Precautions for using titanium fasteners!

Titanium fasteners (such as titanium bolts, titanium nuts, etc.) are widely used in aerospace, marine engineering, and other fields due to their high strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight characteristics. To ensure its performance and safety, special attention should be paid to the following operating points:

1、 Preparation before installation

1. Material matching inspection

Confirm that the material of the fasteners is compatible with the connected parts to avoid galvanic corrosion.

Check if the threads are clean and undamaged to prevent them from getting stuck or slipping during installation.

2. Tool selection

Use a specialized torque wrench to avoid over tightening or under tightening caused by a regular adjustable wrench.

In high temperature environments (such as TC4 bolts>350 ℃), nickel based gaskets should be used to prevent creep.

2、 Key operations during installation

1. Lubrication and anti bite

When titanium fasteners come into contact with aluminum alloys, molybdenum disulfide lubricant should be applied to prevent high-temperature friction and adhesion.

Do not reuse gaskets to avoid uneven pre tension caused by deformation.

2. Torque control

Tighten according to the standard torque value, over tightening can easily cause thread slippage.

Long bolts should apply force to nuts to avoid twisting and winding.

3. Assembly sequence: When connecting multiple bolts, tighten them in a cross symmetrical sequence to ensure even load distribution.

3、 Maintenance and inspection during use

1. Regular testing

Check the corrosion situation in chemical equipment every 6 months, with a focus on inspecting welds and stress concentration areas.

When checking the flange connection, it is necessary to confirm that the sealing ring is not deformed or cracked.

2. Anti loosening measures

Priority should be given to using self-locking nuts or titanium bolts pre coated with anaerobic adhesive to enhance their anti vibration performance.

Avoid using ordinary titanium alloys in electromagnetic sensitive environments (non-magnetic models are required).

4、 Common Misconceptions and Risk Avoidance

1. Avoid replacing fine threads with coarse threads: Fine threaded bolts cannot be replaced with coarse threads, otherwise they are prone to loosening and fracture.

2. Prohibition of rough disassembly: Use specialized tools (such as socket wrenches) and do not strike or forcefully disassemble.

3. Environmental adaptability: In high humidity or corrosive media, TA1/TA2 industrial pure titanium should be selected instead of TC4 alloy.

5、 Special scenario precautions

Aerospace: Low temperature performance needs to be verified (such as titanium bolts for liquid oxygen pipelines).
